Current Student Maintenance - Personal bar

Use the Personal bar to view key personal information about the student.

 Opening the Personal bar

To open the Personal bar:

  1. Select Students > Student Maintenance from the SynWeb main menu.
    The Set Current Search Criteria window is displayed.
  2. Search for the student. See Searching for students.
    The first student's record is displayed on the Current Student Maintenance window. One bar is expanded depending on your last session or earlier selection.
  3. Click the Personal bar if the bar is collapsed.

    Tip
    : You can click anywhere on the bar to open it.

Fields

Field

Description

Surname

Student's surname.
In New Zealand schools:

  • This field should not contain brackets or multiple spaces before or after hyphens or apostrophes. This affects the roll return file sent to NZ MOE.
  • The student's legal surname only must be entered in the Surname field.

Given

Student's given names.
In New Zealand schools:

  • These fields should not contain brackets or multiple spaces before or after hyphens or apostrophes. This affects the roll return file sent to NZ MOE.
  • Only the student's legal given names must be entered in the two Given fields.
  • Ensure that the student's middle names are not included in the first Given field but are included in the second Given field.

Preferred

Student's preferred first name.
For example, a student named Robert might prefer to be called Rob.

Preferred Formal

Student's preferred first name for use on formal documents and occasions.

Initials

Student's initials.

Internal Name

Community member's name as used by the Synergetic database.

Override Internal Name

Select Override Internal Name to enter a different internal name.

Gender

Student's gender.

Note: You can define the list of genders used at your organisation using the luGender lookup table. See luGender lookup table.

Date of Birth

Student's date of birth.
A student's date of birth is used for NZ MOE roll returns.

Family Position

Student's position in the family. Position 1 would be the oldest sibling, position 2 would be the second oldest etc.

Description

Nationality

Student's nationality.
 

Note: You can define the default Nationality in the system configuration.

The Country of Citizenship on the NZMOE tab is used for NZ MOE roll returns not the Nationality field. See Current Student Maintenance - NZMOE tab in the Synergetic Current students manual.

Nationality 2

Nationality of a citizen with dual nationality.

Naturalisation Date

Date the student was naturalised, if applicable.

Age January 1 /
Age Current

Depending on the configuration setting, either the student's:

  • current age for the current file year
  • age as at 1st January for the current file year.

Age 1st Jan
The field is useful to quickly refer to a student's age. For example, when preparing a NZ MOE roll return the following dates are useful when resolving errors:

  • Age at 1st January
  • Age at the March roll return date = Age 1st Jan + 3 months
  • Age at the July roll return date = Age 1st Jan + 7 months.

Configuration
You can configure which field is displayed at your organisation. See ShowCurrent configuration setting in the Synergetic System maintenance manual.

Religion

Student's religion.

Parish

Student's parish, if applicable.

Country of Birth

Student's country of birth.
 

Note: To set the default value see the Default:CountryOfBirthCode configuration setting in the Synergetic System maintenance manual.

Home Language

Native language spoken by the student, if different from the native language used in your organisation.
 

Note: Maintain the values in the luLanguage lookup table. See Maintaining lookup tables in the Synergetic System maintenance manual.

Network Login

Student's network login for your Community Portal, if applicable.

Email

Student's email address at your organisation, if applicable.

Home Email

Student's home email address, if applicable.

Mob

Student's mobile phone number.

Phone BH/AH

Student's business hours and after hours phone number.

Address

Student's address during term time.
 

Note: If both contacts have their Lives With flag selected, the address defaults to the SC1 contact's address. Where there is a joint custody arrangement, this field shows the address of the first listed contact who the Lives With flag is selected for.

Note: The Lives With flag can be viewed on the Contacts bar. See Current Student Maintenance - Contacts bar.

Launches the Display Names window. Click to display and edit different versions of the student's name.

Search Filter

The Search Filter field is located at the top of the Student Selector. This field can be used to filter students by any of the information displayed in the Student Selector.
For example to filter students by name simply type either the student's:

  • last name
  • first name
  • last name then first name separated by a comma.
    To filter students by year level simply type the student's year level in the Search Filter field.
