Current Student Maintenance - Relations bar

Use the Relations bar to:

  • list family relationships
  • list the constituencies of the relations
  • list the contact details of the relations
  • email relations.

Note: Relationships represent how one member of the community relates to another. For example, a mother-daughter relationship. Constituencies define how community members relate to your organisation. For example, whether the community member is a student, staff member or debtor. Constituencies can be system or user-defined.

 Opening the Relations bar

To open the Relations bar:

  1. Select Students > Student Maintenance from the SynWeb main menu.
    The Set Current Search Criteria window is displayed.
  2. Search for the student. See Searching for students.
    The first student's record is displayed on the Current Student Maintenance window. One bar is expanded depending on your last session or earlier selection.
  3. Scroll down to the Relations bar, if required.
  4. Click the Relations bar.

    Tip
    : You can click anywhere on the bar to open it.

Grid area
The grid area consists of:

  • key fields for each of the student's relations
  • command links that allows the relation to be emailed from the student's list.

ID

Synergetic ID of the relation.

Relation

Relationship from the perspective of the student.

Note: You can define the relationship between male, female, and other gendered community members using the RevRelationshipMale, RevRelationshipFemale, and RevRelationshipOther fields of the luRelationship lookup table. See luRelationship lookup table in the Synergetic System Maintenance manual.

Constituencies

Constituencies that the relation belongs to.
Constituencies that are displayed in:

  • UPPERCASE are Synergetic constituencies. For example, the @DEB constituency is displayed as DEB (debtor).
  • lowercase are user-defined constituencies. For example, the counc (school council) user-defined constituency is displayed as counc.

Use SMS

Option for sending SMS (short message service) text messages.

Send SMS messages to the relation's occupation mobile phone.

Send SMS messages to the relation's personal mobile phone.

Portal Approval

Whether the selected relation is approved to:

  • fill out the community member's excursion permission forms on the Community Portal
  • access and update the community member's My Details information on the Community Portal.

Key points regarding portal approval

  • Current students are always approvers for themselves
  • Current students are always approvers for their spouses (if they have one)
  • Relations can be set as approvers for current students using the Portal Approval field
  • When the Portal Approval field is blank the approvers are:

    - Contacts with the Parent flag selected
    - Contacts whose ID is used as the contact.

Tip: You can set current students as approvers for community members using the Relations bar of Community Maintenance. See Community Maintenance - Relations bar.

Launch the Relationship window to edit details of the selected relationship.

Delete the selected relation.


Common fields

Description

Search Filter

The Search Filter field is located at the top of the Student Selector. This field can be used to filter students by any of the information displayed in the Student Selector.
For example to filter students by name simply type either the student's:

  • last name
  • first name
  • last name then first name separated by a comma.
    To filter students by year level simply type the student's year level in the Search Filter field.

Display the Current Student Maintenance Search Criteria window.
