Current Student Maintenance - Attendance bar

Use the Attendance bar to display class attendance of absence records for the student.
Attendance is recorded using the Attendance Maintenance window. See Attendance Maintenance window in the Attendance manual.
Any absence events entered in Synergetic are also displayed in the grid. For example, late slips and early departures by the student. See the Synergetic Attendance and absence events manual.

 

 Opening the Attendance bar

To open the Attendance bar:

  1. Select Students > Student Maintenance from the SynWeb main menu.
    The Set Current Search Criteria window is displayed.
  2. Search for the student. See Searching for students.
    The first student's record is displayed on the Current Student Maintenance window. One bar is expanded depending on your last session or earlier selection.
  3. Scroll down to the Attendance bar, if required.
  4. Click the Attendance bar.

    Tip
    : You can click anywhere on the bar to open it.

Selection area
The selection area consists of:

  • fields used to determine which attendance records are listed for the student
  • a button, used when one or more selection fields are changed.

Description

Class

Limit records to the class specified.

Year & Sem

Defaults to the current year and semester. Change if required.

Date

Display the student's class attendance details for the date specified.
In the following example, a student's attendance at two classes has been marked for 02/04/14. These are viewed by:

  • selecting a Date of 02/04/14
  • selecting a Show selection of All
  • clicking .

Show

Select the records to be displayed based on one of the following:

  • attendance
  • nonattendance
  • all records.

    The Show field defaults to Not Attended.
    In the following example, Not Attended has been selected.

    Only the attendance records where the student has been marked absent for the selected date are displayed.

Description

Refresh the attendance displayed after you have changed the:

  • Class
  • Year
  • Term, semester or reporting period
  • Date
  • Show mode.


Grid area
The grid area consists of key fields for:

  • each of the student's attendance records
  • any absence events.

Date

Date of the attendance record.

Period

Period of the attendance record.

Attended

Whether or not the student was present. An:

  • attendance is displayed with a symbol
  • absence is displayed with a symbol.

Class

Class code, prefixed with the campus, if applicable.

Poss Abs Code

Absence events code, if applicable.
 

Note: Treated as a possible absence, this is usually entered by the teacher based on the information available at the time.

Pos Rsn desc

Description of the possible reason code, if applicable.

Poss desc

Description of the possible absence reason, if applicable.

Late arrive

Whether or not the student was marked as having arrived late to class.

Late arrive time

Time the student arrived, if late.

Early depart

Whether or not the student was marked as having left early from their class.

Early depart time

Time the student left, if early.

Staff code

Staff code of the staff member who marked this attendance record.

Search Filter

The Search Filter field is located at the top of the Student Selector. This field can be used to filter students by any of the information displayed in the Student Selector.
For example to filter students by name simply type either the student's:

  • last name
  • first name
  • last name then first name separated by a comma.
    To filter students by year level simply type the student's year level in the Search Filter field.

Display the Current Student Maintenance Search Criteria window.
You can update the search criteria and search for new students. See Searching for students.
