Current Student Maintenance - Flags bar

Use the Flags bar to view flags and related information on:

  • categorising students for reporting at your organisation
  • categorising students for government reporting
  • English as an additional language details
  • forms received
  • visa and passport details
  • religious sacraments.


 Opening the Flags bar

To open the Flags bar:

  1. Select Students > Student Maintenance from the SynWeb main menu.
    The Set Current Search Criteria window is displayed.
  2. Search for the student. See Searching for students.
    The first student's record is displayed on the Current Student Maintenance window. One bar is expanded depending on your last session or earlier selection.
  3. Scroll down to the Flags bar, if required.
  4. Click the Flags bar.

    Tip
    : You can click anywhere on the bar to open it.

Flags area fields

Field

Description

External Student

Student is enrolled at another school and is undertaking classes at your organisation.

Integration StudentStudent has learning difficulties and has a staff member assigned to assist them with their integration at your organisation.
Study At HomeStudent studies from home.
Learning Pathway

Student's learning pathway. For example, International Baccalaureate.

Note: For information about defining learning pathways, see the luLearningPathway lookup table. See luLearningPathway lookup table.

Note: This field is used to report student learning pathway selections to the Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA). This information is included in the Register New Student File, which can be exported for submission to the QCAA using the QCAA tab of the Import/Export Student Data window. See Import_Export Student Data - QCAA tab.

New Arrivals Program

Student is part of a new arrivals program.

Receives AllowanceStudent receives a government allowance. This was formerly the Austudy/Youth Allowance.
Education Maint AllowanceStudent receives an education maintenance allowance.
Intends TertiaryStudent intends to go on to tertiary study.

Tertiary Entrance Achieved

Student has successfully achieved tertiary entrance.

In NZ MOE roll returns, this flag is selected to indicate that University Entrance has been awarded to the student. Applies to:

  • full-time secondary level students (student type is RE, FF, TPRE or TPREOM)
  • adult students (student type is RA, AD, TPRAE, TPAD or TPRAOM) leaving the NZ schooling sector and where the Reason is L, E, O, X or C.

Indigenous StudentStudent is classified as an indigenous student in your country.
Torres Strait IslanderStudent is classified as an Australian Torres Strait Islander.
Non ResidentStudent is from overseas and not classified as a resident of your country.

Birth Certificate on File

A copy of the student's birth certificate is on file.

Special NeedsStudent has special needs.
DisabilityStudent has a disability that may affect their learning.
Community ServiceStudent has completed community service.

Publish Exam Answers

Permission has been received to publish the student's exam results, including answers.

Publish Awards

Permission has been received to publish any awards received by the student.

Publish Career Information

Permission has been received to publish career information.

Refugee (Now or Last 7 years)

Student is a refugee or was a refugee in the last seven years.

Additional Learning Needs

Student has additional learning needs.

Note: Western Australian schools can select this field to define the student as an ABLEWA student.

ESL (English as an Additional Language) area fields

English as an Additional Language

Select if the student's first language is not English

Note: Maintain the values for the following fields in the luESLProficiencyLevel lookup table. See Maintaining lookup tables in the System maintenance manual.

Proficiency

Student's overall command of English.

Listening

Student's understanding of spoken English.

Speaking

Student's ability to speak English.

Reading

Student's ability to read English.

Writing

Student's ability to write English.

Forms Received area fields

Demographic

Select the date when the student's demographic data collection form was last received.

Note: This field only applies to Australian schools.

Reconfirmation

Date when the student's reconfirmation form was last received.

Acceptable Use

Date when the student's acceptable use form was last received, for the use of your organisation's computer-related resources.

Enrolment Contract

Selected if the enrolment contract was received, if applicable at your organisation.

Religious Sacraments area fields

Baptism

Select if baptised and specify the date.

Communion

Select if able to take Communion and specify the effective date.

Reconciliation

Select if reconciled and specify the date.

Confirmation

Select if confirmed and specify the date.

Search Filter

The Search Filter field is located at the top of the Student Selector. This field can be used to filter students by any of the information displayed in the Student Selector.

For example to filter students by name simply type either the student's:

  • last name
  • first name
  • last name then first name separated by a comma.

To filter students by year level simply type the student's year level in the Search Filter field.
