Victorian Curriculum Foundation F-10 Level D Now Available

The Victorian Department of Education have recently updated the 'Reporting Student Achievement and Progress Foundation to 10' policy to incorporate Level D into the 5-point age-related scale.

The 5-point age-related rating now aligns Level D with “below expected level” for Semesters 1 and 2 of Prep and “well below expected level” for Year 1 from Semester 2, 2023.

Overview of changes included in this hotfix package

As a D Grade already existed within Victorian Curriculum we have had to create this new D as D.0 (zero).

We have made this change in Synergetic by adding the Result D.0 to the luReportResultType mask for VCF:

       D.0,0.5,F,F.5,1.0,1.5,2.0,2.5,3.0,3.5,4.0,4.5,5.0,5.5,6.0,6.5,7.0,7.5,8.0,8.5,9.0,9.5,10.0,10.5,11.0,DNP[classify]

We have also made changes within Synergetic so that the AssementRep5VC Academic Report will position the new D.0 dot as per VCAA requirements.

What running the hotfix does

Running the hotfix will:

  • add D.0 to the required Reference table and to  luReportResultType for VCF.
  • make changes to the necessary SQL Proc's so as to allow a representative dot to appear correctly in the AssementRep5VC Academic Report.

The change is a one time only change, that is the D.0 will only be applied once and the mask will not be updated again once initially updated.

I Ran the Patcher and D.0 was not added to luReportResultType?

If in the unlikely event the D.0 was not added by the Patcher to luReportResultType; then using SQL check that it was added to refExternalSystemReportResultType, and if so manually add D.0 to the mask field of luReportResultType.

If the D.0 was not added by the Patcher to luReportResultType, and checking refExternalSystemReportResultType shows it was not added there either, then  re-run the Patcher and if still not added contact Support.

Obtaining and applying the hotfix

We have created an SQL fix that makes these required changes. To apply these to your database

1) Download the fix from the link below :

2) Save to a location of your choosing, that you can access from your SQL Server

3) Open and run the patcher

  • Open the zip file and extract the included exe file to your SQL server (or to a location that is able to communicate with the SQL Server)
  • Run the exe - this will run a database patcher wizard which will take you through the steps to update the required reference data table.
  • The patcher can be applied with Users remaining logged in and will only take seconds to run

4) Once the patcher has completed successfully, your system will have been updated to include the new D.0.  This will be visible in the luReportResultType mask for VCF:

Other Reports

If your school uses the Victorian Curriculum scale in customised academic reports and you are currently using the standard sub-report for Victorian Curriculum your report should also behave as per VCAA requirements.

We strongly recommend that you test your reports as soon as possible to identify any issues, and if you require assistance in resolving such issues, please contact us via Support.

Please note that support for customised reports will be chargeable.
