Description
The PeriodLengthMinutes setting is used to determine the start and end times of each period, that applies to an absence event. This is then used to identify possible overlaps, when a user selects either one of the following filters on the Absence Events Maintenance window:
- Unexplained Slip with possible CoCurricular. See Resolving absence events explained by co-curricular activities in the Attendance and absence events manual.
- Unexplained Slip with possible SickBay. See Resolving absence events explained by medical incidents in the Attendance and absence events manual.
Default value
The default value is 60 minutes.
The period length needs specifying because it is used to calculate any overlap from the starting time of the period. In the following example, the Time field on the Create Absence Event window is 9:00am; the start of period 1. The PeriodLengthMinutes setting is then used to determine that the period is from 9:00am until 10:00am (that is, 60 minutes later). Synergetic is then able to search for overlapping medical incidents and co-curricular activities within this time frame that could explain the absence event.
Setting a different value
Change the PeriodLengthMinutes value from the default value if the periods at your organisation are not 60 minutes in length. Update the Value field on the Configuration File Maintenance window. See Maintaining configuration files.
In the following example, the value has been changed to 55 minutes.
