Description
The ThresholdMinutes setting is used to set the number of minutes used when searching for other absence events that can be superseded by the absence event being created on the Create Absence Event window.
This is generally used when using the following absence events modes:
- Late Sign In. See Recording late sign ins in the Attendance and absence events manual.
- Sign In. See Recording a student signing in manually in the Attendance and absence events manual.
- Sign Out. See Recording a student signing out manually in the Attendance and absence events manual.
Default value
The default value is 30 minutes.
In the following example, the Auto Match window is displayed with a related Expected In absence event when submitting the Sign In absence event. The student is signing in at 12:22 pm and the student is expected in at 12:05pm. This is within the default 30 minutes threshold.
If the time is outside the threshold, the Auto Match window is not displayed even if there is an absence event with an earlier time. Some organisations have a policy to follow up separately as anything greater than the threshold cannot be explained by the original Expected In absence event.
However, there is nothing to prevent users manually superseding using the button. In the following example, the student was expected in at 11:00am but signed in at 1:02pm. If it is your organisation's policy that the threshold is to be adhered to, you need to request that users do not use the button in these circumstances.
Setting the threshold to another value
Depending on your organisation's policy, update the Value field on the Configuration File Maintenance window. See Maintaining configuration files.
