Modifying existing Crystal Reports

You can modify an existing Crystal Report when minor changes are required.

For example, altering the title of a report or adding a few new fields to the report.

To modifying an existing Crystal Report and save it with the same name in the SITE folder:

  1. Modify the report as required.

  2. Select Save As in Crystal Reports save to the SITE folder, not the REPORTS folder.

Ensure that the report has the same filename as the original.

This method requires the least work. By keeping the same name, you do not need to make any changes in the Report Selector.

When running this report in Synergetic, the application will look for a modified version of the report in the SITE folder before defaulting back to the REPORTS folder.

This modified report will continue to be used should Synergetic deploy an update to the original report with the same name in a future update.

It also prevents the original Synergetic report from being accessed by other users.

If there are any additional, user defined, parameters required then this approach will not work.
