This section outlines changes to the Payroll manual arising from changes made to Synergetic (versions 71.03-71.04).

New General tab. | You can use the redesigned General tab of Payroll Maintenance to more easily find the payroll configuration options you need. The new tab is split into two sub-tabs.

New Leave by Hours Worked Project Average Pay Count field. | You can use the new Leave by Hours Worked Project Average Pay Count field on the Page 1 sub-tab of the General tab of the Payroll Configuration window to configure the number of pays used to calculated leave entitlements for employees working irregular hours (i.e. hours worked leave calculation method and the Units and Amount fields blank on the Pay Details tab). | Payroll Configuration - General tab - Page 1 sub-tab |
New Automatically Import Leave Details from Applications for Current Pays field. | You can use the Automatically Import Leave Details from Applications for Current Pays field to configure whether leave transactions are created automatically when new pays are created. | Synergetic Financial Configuration - Payroll tab - Page 2 sub-tab. |
New ability to manually link leave transactions to approved leave applications. | You can click on the following tabs to link a leave transaction to one or more leave applications:
When this button is clicked, the Assign Leave Taken to Application window is displayed to allow you to select the leave application. Once the leave application is linked, you can click to view the details of the application and remove the link, if necessary. | |
Leave transactions are automatically created when pay runs are created. | Previously, leave transactions had to be manually added on the Detail tab of Current Pay Maintenance. Now they are automatically processed when the pay run is created. Leave transactions are included when the approved leave:

New functionality to update normal pay lines when leave pay lines are moved up or down the grid area. | Previously, we added the Auto Adjust Pay When Leave Entered field on the Payroll tab of Synergetic Financial Configuration window to allow you to determine whether normal pay lines automatically adjust based on the amount of leave taken. See Synergetic Financial Configuration - Payroll tab. When this field is selected and there are multiple normal pay lines, you can now move leave pay lines up or down the grid to change the normal pay line adjusted based on the amount of leave. New warning for leave taken and approved prior to the current pay. | The following warning is displayed when you add a payroll employee on the Details tab of Current Pay Maintenance that has leave with no units assigned that was taken and approved prior to the start of the current pay period. | Current Pay Maintenance - Detail tab |
New functionality to alert you to potential leave anomalies on the Detail tab. | Synergetic may encounter potential anomalies when leave transactions are processed. If anomalies are detected for a current pay, the Leave Requires Attention area is displayed above the grid area on the Detail tab of Current Pay Maintenance. The Payroll Officer must check the Reason field to determine the reason(s), manually update the pay to resolve the potential leave anomaly, and then click the Accept button to acknowledge that leave has been correctly entered. Tip: You can select the Only Employees where leave needs attention field in the Current Pay Selector to only display current pays with potential anomalies. This field is only displayed if potential anomalies exist. | |
Updated Single Touch Payroll Enabled field. | You can now deselect the Single Touch Payroll Enabled field on the Change Payroll Summary Details window at any stage prior to STP processing to choose not to submit current payroll details to the Australian Tax Office. This is useful when you realise mid-finalisation that changes need to be made to your data before it can be submitted to the ATO. | |
New STP validation error. | The following validation error has been added:

Updated Project entitlements to preview date field. | You can now use the Project entitlements to preview date field on the Leave tab of Payroll Maintenance to project leave entitlements for employees with an hours worked leave award calculation. Additionally, projections can also be generated for payroll employees that work irregular hours (i.e. hours worked leave calculation method and the Units and Amount fields blank on the Pay Details tab). The projection is calculated based on an average across several pays. The number of pays used to calculate the average can be configured using the Leave by Hours Worked Project Average Pay Count on the Page 1 sub-tab of the General tab of the Payroll Configuration window. Updated Leave Application Action Centre messages. | The following Leave Application Action Centre messages have been updated to have email fields populated by default.
This helps to ensure that leave applicants and managers are kept fully-informed about leave applications. Additionally, the Outcome of a Leave Application message has been updated to specifically state the outcome of the leave application. |
