How the combined result is displayed

If the final mark for the combined assessment area has a Grade result type, the calculated mark is converted to a grade using the assigned mask. For example,
Mask = A+{90},A{85},B+{75},C+{70},C{65},D+{60},D{50},F{0}
states that all results greater than or equal to the number in the curly brackets are assigned the grade before the brackets. Therefore, the combined mark of 86% in the example above is converted to a grade of A.
In the example created for the Assignment assessment area earlier, the Assignment was displayed as a Mark of 100. See Example of linked mark book assessment areas.

The Result Type can be changed to Grade on the Area sub-tab of Subject Assessment Maintenance. See Subject Assessment Maintenance - Area tab - Area sub-tab.

The summarised Assignment results are converted to grades, which are in turn printed on the student reports. Angelo Adamski's assignment result of 86 out of 100 is greater than or equal to the {85} in the mask and is therefore assigned a grade of A (that is, the A character is used as it precedes the {85} in the mask).

Note: The final mark does not necessarily need to be displayed in the Student Results Maintenance window before it is converted to a grade. If preferred, the result can be calculated and automatically converted to a grade in the final assessment area.
The mark to grade conversion mask is defined in the luReportResultType lookup table, which is linked to the Result Type field for the assessment area. See Maintaining lookup tables in the System maintenance manual.
