Enabling events and payments on the Community Portal

You can configure the Community Portal to display events to community members and enable community members to:

  • respond to an event indicating their intention to attend or not attend
  • book tickets for limited-guest events
  • pay for tickets and events
  • make voluntary contributions to appeals.

    Note: The Community Portal can only accept RSVPs and payments for events if SSL is enabled on your IIS server.

Configuring the Community Portal for events and payments
To configure event payments on the Community Portal:

  1. Configure Synergetic to use the correct payment gateway. See Configuring the NAB payment gateway for online payments.
  2. Configure the online payment options in the Synergetic Online Payments Maintenance window. See Maintaining online payment configurations in the Synergetic Finance manual.
  3. Configure the Events tab to display the way you want on the Community Portal. See Customising the Events tab.
    The Community Portal is ready to display and accept payment for events. 

Creating payable events on the Community Portal
To ensure an event appears in the Community Portal:

  1. Create the event in Synergetic Events Maintenance.

  2. On the Event tab of Events Maintenance, ensure the following fields are populated:
    Event Date From and To
    • Max Attendance
    • Max Tickets per Attendee if you want to limit the number of tickets an individual guest can purchase.

  3. On the Web tab, ensure:
     the Show on Web Site field is selected
     the Publish Date From and Publish Date To fields are populated.

    Note:
    These fields determine the period of time the event is displayed on the Community Portal.

    On the Attribute tab, add an attribute to the event for each type of ticket you want to see. For example, Adult, Student, Concession.

  4. On the Current Attendees tab, invite the community members you want to attend the event.

    The event is displayed on the portal to the community members you have invited, for the dates you have specified.
