Testing the DocMan service
To test that the DocMan service is functioning correctly:
- Create a new document source code in the luDocumentSourceCode lookup table called TESTSOURCE. See luDocumentSourceCode lookup table.
- Create a new document classification in the luDocumentClassification lookup table called TESTCLASS. See luDocumentClassification lookup table.
- Create a new folder within the Monitored Folder on the file server called TESTCLASS. See Configuring the DocMan service folders.
- Start the service. See Starting and stopping the DocMan service.
- Create a file that:
- Matches the filename pattern specified in the Pattern configuration setting. See Pattern configuration setting.
- Uses one of the accepted document types in luDocumentType lookup table. See luDocumentType lookup table.
For example, if you use the default pattern and the test community member's Synergetic ID is 69614, the filename should be 19614!Test!Test Document!TESTSOURCE.doc.
- Add the file to the TESTCLASS folder.
- If the server is configured correctly, a new folder should appear in TESTCLASS within a minute and the test file moved into it.
- If a Processed folder is created, the DocMan service is working correctly.
- If a Rejected folder is created, check that the filename and document type match as in step 5 and try again.
- If no folder is created, check the Windows Event Viewer for details, restart the service and try again. See Starting and stopping the DocMan service.
