Payroll Configuration - Tax Rates tab
Use the Tax Rates tab to maintain:
- tax scales
- weekly minimum and maximum levels at which the tax scales apply.
There is a two-tiered hierarchy when maintaining tax scales and weekly levels, from the top-down:
- tax scales
- weekly levels.
When the tax rates change, Synergetic Management Systems will issue a text file containing the new tax rates that you can import directly into Synergetic. See Loading new tax rates for more details. Alternatively you can manually change the tax rates.

Tax scale area fields

Description | Comma-separated description of the tax scale |
Category | Tax scale category code of the selected tax scale. |
Option | Category-specific option of the selected tax scale. |
Loan | Student loan status of the selected tax scale. |
Levy Exempt | Medicare levy exemption status of the selected tax scale. |
Tax Off Code | Code used by the:

Active | Whether the selected tax scale is active at your organisation. Note: You can use this field to disable old (STP1) tax scales. |
Sort | Order of the selected tax scale in drop-down lists. |
Legacy Scale | Legacy (STP1) tax scale used for the selected tax scale. Tip: You can use this field to check how the tax scales introduced with Single Touch Payroll 2 (STP2) relate to the old tax scales. |
Legacy HELP | Whether the legacy (STP1) tax scale included HELP repayments. |
Legacy Scale Inc HELP | Legacy (STP1) tax scale including the HELP repayment code. |
Annual scale area fields
