Merging other assessment areas into the current assessment area

You can merge two or more subject assessment areas into one on the Student Results Maintenance window. This in turn can affect the assessment areas on the student's report.

In this example, we have two assessment areas (Homework and Homework 2) that we need to merge into one. We have chosen to merge Homework 2 into Homework.

To merge another subject assessment area into the selected assessment area:

  1. Open the Area sub-tab of Subject Assessment Maintenance. See Subject Assessment Maintenance - Area tab - Area sub-tab.
    The Area sub-tab of the Area tab of the Subject Assessment Maintenance window is displayed.
  2. Search for the subject area. See Searching for subjects and assessment areas.
  3. Select the area to merge into on the Subject Assessment Selector window.
  4. Click  on the Area sub-tab.
    The Merge Assessment Area Detail window is displayed.
  5. Select the other areas to be merged into the current area.
    In this example, we are merging the Homework area into the Writing area.
  6. Click .
    The selected areas are added to the Items to be merged field.

    Tip: To remove items, you can select the Items to be merged and click .
  7. Click .
    The following dialog window is displayed.

    Note: A dialog window similar to the example below is displayed if there are existing student results. Follow the instructions on the window.
  8. Click .
    The areas are merged.
