Setting up superannuation
Synergetic has the ability to calculate superannuation amounts when you only specify a factor.
When determining the amount of superannuation to pay:
- all pay types with the Include in Superannuation Calculation selected in Payroll Code Maintenance are included in the calculation
- only lines above the actual superannuation line are included in the calculation.
Example
Remember:
- N = Normal Payment, R = Deduction - Pre-Tax (non-superannuation) and E = Superannuation - Employer Contributed
- S (Superannuation - Employee Voluntary After Tax) is the same as E except it will be a credit.
This is the simplest situation, a Normal Payment line that is included in superannuation.
Pay Type | Factor | Amount | Include In Super Flag |
---|---|---|---|
N |
| 1000.00 | Y |
E | 0.1 | 100.00 | That is, 10% of 1000. |
This example has a Normal Payment, Deduction - Pre-Tax (non-superannuation) and Superannuation - Employee Voluntary After Tax.
Pay Type | Factor | Amount | Include In Super Flag |
---|---|---|---|
N |
| 1000.00 | Y |
R |
| -200.00 | N. That is, this is not included in the superannuation calculation. |
E | 0.1 | 100.00 | Superannuation is still calculated on 1000. |
This example demonstrates how superannuation calculations only process what is above them.
Pay Type | Factor | Amount | Include In Super Flag |
---|---|---|---|
N |
| 1000.00 | Y |
E | 0.1 | 100.00 | This only includes the 1000 above it. |
N |
| 1000.00 | Y. That is, another Normal Pay line. |
E | 0.1 | 200.00 | This includes both lots of 1000. |
