Student Results Maintenance - Single Student tab (Standalone)

You can use either the Single Student tab or the All Students tab to maintain assessment results for individual students in your class.
The tab you use is determined by your individual preference:

 

 Opening the Single Student tab

To open the Single Student tab:

  1. Select Module > Assessments, then Student Results Maintenance.
    The Set Student Results Search Criteria window is displayed.
    Tip: You can also access the Set Student Results Search Criteria window by clicking .
     
  2. Search for the classes attended by the student. See Searching for student results.

    Tip:
     Search by Staff Code or Staff ID
    .

    The Student Results Selector window is displayed.
     
  3. Double click the class.
    The Single Student tab of the Student Results Maintenance window is displayed.


Entering results

You can enter results for students by:

  • choosing the relevant grid cell.
  • typing or selecting the result.

To move around the grid:

  • Use the mouse and click in the required cell.
  • Press the Tab key to move to the cell immediately to the right.
  • Use Arrow keys. When the cursor is positioned in a cell, you can also use the Alt + down arrow key to select a result.

Student Results Maintenance - Single Student tab key fields and buttons

Group

Result group for the subject assessment area, if applicable.
Tip: If you have many subject assessment areas, you can group them together using the Result Group field. See Creating new subject assessment areas in the Assessments and reports manual. You can select the result group from the group field then select subject assessment areas from within the group, instead of searching the full list.

Show Left

Select to include students who have left your organisation in the list.

Show Non Assessable

Select to include non-assessable classes in the list.

Comments

Overall student assessment comments for the selected class.

Buttons

Description

The button beside the:

  • Class code and staff code are not available in the Standalone version of Synergetic.
  • Student name and number launches the Student Maintenance window. See Viewing key information about students.

Launch the Set Student Results Search Criteria window.

Add a topic comment for the selected student.
See Creating topic comments for student assessment areas for details of topic comments.
Note: A small red triangle in the corner of a cell indicates that an existing topic comment is included for the area. Click to maintain the comment.

Perform a spell check on the text in the Comments field.
Synergetic can be configured to automatically check the spelling when you leave the Comments field. See AutoSpellCheck configuration setting in the System maintenance manual.

Copy the text in the Comments field, for later use with other students.

Note: The copy button can only be used with this function, as it does not use the Windows clipboard for the copy and paste.

Note: Some organisations do not permit copying of comments from one student to another. Check that the policy at your organisation permits this.

Paste the text in the Comments field that was previously copied from another student.
See the Copy button immediately above.

Launch into the Comments Tree window.
See Entering stored personal comments.

View other results for the selected student, if they are available.
See Viewing student results (teacher).


Results grid area fields
The results can be entered for the selected student. In the following example, Angelo Adamski's results for his German A class have been entered and the calculations have been run.

Result

Result entered for the subject assessment area. For example, 50 for the Oral Exam.
Greyed out results are either calculated results or have been set to read only by the curriculum coordinator. In the example above, the Assignments and Ranking results are calculated results.
Note: A small red triangle in the corner indicates that a topic comment is included for the area, as seen in the example.

This is more relevant on the All Students and Assessment tabs as the topic comment is not displayed by default.

Classification

Select the result classification, if enabled for the subject assessment.
The result classification is used in:

Topic Comment

Add comments against the subject assessment area.
For example, the 50 out of 50 for the Oral Exam is a notable result for Angelo in the example above.
