Synergetic Web Server DMZ FAQ

The Synergetic web portals SynWeb and Community Portal are fully supported with running in a DMZ. There are however a few considerations when locating a web server in a DMZ.


Authentication

  • SAML is recommended for authentication 
  • If the Web server is not domain joined, Windows authentication will not be possible.

Network

  • DNS will need to be functioning in the DMZ
  • IP address change will not affect connectivity as long as configuration is referring to URLs or hostnames and DNS is functioning
  • Firewall ports need to be opened between the internal network to the Web server in the DMZ. Additional information on the ports required is available here: Network Port Details
