Importing results from Excel
To import student results from Microsoft Excel:
Note: When importing 1997-2003 Excel files the worksheet must be the first sheet and must be spelt Sheet1 with capitalisation and without internal spacing.
- Open the Class window of SynWeb Results Maintenance. See Results Maintenance - Class window.
- Click .
The Excel Results Import window is displayed. - Select .
- Create or locate a Microsoft Excel file containing the student results that you want to import.
Ensure that:
• the first row contains column headings
• the first column contains the Synergetic ID numbers for the students in the class
• the information is recorded on "Sheet1" of the spreadsheet. *Note that the label of the sheet with your data to import must be called "Sheet1", otherwise the import will fail. - Select the Excel file to upload and click .
The filename is displayed in the Excel Results Import window.
Note: If you have selected the wrong file, click to remove the filepath.
- Click .
The Excel Results Import window is redisplayed with information from the spreadsheet. - For each Excel Column that you want to import, select the Import checkbox.
- Select Overwrite if a column that you want to import should replace an existing column in SynWeb.
- Select the relevant Assessment Area from the drop-down list.
Tip: Synergetic automatically attempts to match the columns in the spreadsheet with the columns in SynWeb.
Note: You cannot import results from Excel into read-only columns or map more than one Excel column to an Assessment Area.

The results are imported and added to the Results Maintenance - Classes view for the relevant students.
Note: Marks can only be imported if they conform to the result mask defined for the class. See Maintaining mark books.
