Creating new subject assessment areas
To create a new subject assessment area:
- Select Curriculum > Assessment Area Maintenance from the SynWeb main menu.
The Set Subject Assessment Area Search Criteria window is displayed. - Search for the assessment area.
- Click on the Area bar.
Tip: You can click anywhere on the bar other than the caption to open it.
- Click next to the subject assessment area you want to maintain.
The Area tab of the Area bar of Subject Assessment Area Maintenance is displayed. - Click .
The New Area window is displayed. - Type the details of the area into the fields according to the table below.
Note: The Overall Seq field is read only unless the assessment area is an Overall Assessment.
- Click .
The subject assessment area is created.

Fields
Field | Description |

Seq | The sequence order for the assessment area. Leave this field blank if you want the assessment area to be added to the end of the assessment area list. |
Result Group | Group of subject assessment areas that this area is a part of Tip: Use to create groups if you have a large number of assessment areas to manage. You can work with the groups instead of each individual assessment area in Results Maintenance. Result Type | Result values available for the subject assessment area. Result types restrict the valid values that you can enter in this field. This is so that the data presented on reports is consistent Note: Values are maintained in the luReportResultType lookup table. See luReportResultType lookup tablein the Synergetic System maintenance manual. |
Heading | A description of the assessment area. |
Overall Seq | If Overall Result is selected this:

Overall Assessment | Select if this is to be the overall result for the students. |
