Setting up criteria for an award
Once you have defined the award, you can determine the criteria to assess whether a student qualifies for the award.
There are several steps involved in defining the award criteria. You need to:
- create a subject assessment for the award or select an existing subject assessment used for awards
- create assessment areas within this subject assessment corresponding to each criteria that a student can fulfil.
Awards are designed so that the one award criteria may apply to the cumulative scores for several different awards. For example, singing at Open Day may entitle the student to 10 points towards a music award and 5 points towards a leadership award. For this reason you are advised to set up your award criteria as separate Subject Assessment Areas under the one Subject Assessment.
The following table explains the recommended structure of award criteria:
Level | Use | See... |
---|---|---|
Subject Assessment | Global heading for all awards given by your organisation. For example, S/AWARDS. Used in Class Maintenance as the Assessment Code for the groups of eligible students. | |
Subject Assessment Area | Criteria that a student can fulfil to gain points towards an award | |
Area tab - Awards sub-tab | Awards that are linked to the criteria. |
