Configuring general settings

You can use the General tab to:

 

 Opening the General tab

To open the General tab:

  1. Launch the Community Portal in an internet browser.
  2. Log in as a portal administrator.

    Tip
    : Admin user logins are separated by commas between the <AdminUserNames></AdminUserNames> tags in the XML configuration file. See Editing the SynCommPortal.xml configuration file.

    Tip: You can also access the Admin Panel if you have been assigned the CommunityPortalAdminPanel security resource in Group/User Security Maintenance. See Group Security Maintenance - Groups View in the Synergetic System maintenance manual.
     
  3. Click Configuration in the Admin Panel.

    The Main Menu Configuration Tool window is displayed.
  4. Click the General tab.
    The General tab is displayed.

Fields

Description

Enable Crystal Reports

Select to make Crystal Report links visible throughout the Community Portal.

Note:
You can also determine whether Crystal Report links are visible throughout the portal using the EnableCrystalReport configuration setting. See EnableCrystalReports configuration setting.

Maintenance settings area fields
Your IT administrator can enable Maintenance mode to limit access to the Community Portal during periods of system maintenance.
These fields are used to customise maintenance mode settings for the Community Portal at your organisation.

Enable Maintenance Mode

Select to enable maintenance mode.

Note: Only administrators can log into the Community Portal when maintenance mode is enabled.

Force User Logout in Maintenance Mode

Select to force users to log out when maintenance mode is enabled.
 

Tip: You can also activate this setting using the LogoutUserMode configuration setting. See LogoutUserMode configuration setting.

System Offline Message

Description displayed when the Community Portal is in maintenance mode.
 

Tip: You can also configure the offline message using the OfflineMessage configuration setting. See OfflineMessage configuration setting.

Maintenance Warning Message

Description displayed to notify users when the Community Portal is going offline.

SMTP settings area fields

Field

Description

Server Name

Name of the SMTP server. For example, mail.bigpond.com.

Username

Account username for the SMTP server.

Password

Password used to access the SMTP server.
 

Note: This password is encrypted and must be configured using this field in the Community Portal.

Port number

Port allocated to the SMTP server.

TLS Mode

Select to use Transport Layer Security (TLS) for the SMTP server.
