Configuring the Community Portal to process online payments

NAB Transact is the default payment gateway used by Synergetic to securely store online payment and credit card details.

You can configure the Community Portal to process online payments using NAB Transact by:

  • processing test online payment data to ensure the NAB Transact gateway is operating correctly.
  • enabling live payments to allow Community Portal users to make online payments.


Processing test online payment data

Important:
Synergetic highly recommends testing NAB Transact payments on a test server and database to avoid mixing test and live data.


To process test online payment data:

  1. Configure online payment methods, if not already done. See Configuring online payment methods.
  2. Enable Community Portal tabs for online payments as required. See Enabling online payment tabs on the Community Portal.
  3. Customise how the Community Portal displays information on each tab. You can customise:

    Events tab. See Customising the Events tab in the Community Portal Configuration manual.
    • Excursions tab. See Customising the Excursions tab in the Community Portal Configuration manual.
    • Finance tab. See Customising the Finance tab in the Community Portal Configuration manual.
    • Make an Account Payment tab. See Customising the Make an Account Payment tab in the Community Portal Configuration manual.
    • Payments tab. See Customising the Payments tab in the Community Portal Configuration manual.

  4. Set up NAB Transact as an online payment merchant. See Setting up NAB Transact as an online payment merchant.
  5. Ensure the Live:EnabledFlag configuration setting is set to False. See Live_EnabledFlag configuration setting.

    Important:
    Do not set the Live:EnabledFlag configuration setting to True until thorough testing has been performed because live credit card details and money will be processed.

  6. Populate test NAB Transact configuration settings with test data received from NAB. See Customising test NAB Transact configuration settings.
  7. Log into the Community Portal.
  8. Confirm the following warning is displayed:

    NAB Transact is now configured to process test payments.

    Note:
    The Community Portal can only accept payments if SSL (secure sockets layer) is enabled on your IIS server. Contact your IT Administrator.

  9. Configure online payment categories. See Configuring online payment categories.
  10. Process test online payment data to check settings. See Processing test online payment data.
  11. Verify that test online payment data is being processed correctly. See Verifying online payment data.

Enabling live online payments

To enable live online payments:

  1. Set up NAB Transact as an online payment merchant using your live merchant ID and password. See Setting up NAB Transact as an online payment merchant.
  2. Populate live NAB Transact configuration settings with live data received from NAB. See Customising live NAB Transact configuration settings.
  3. Set the Live:EnabledFlag configuration setting to True. See Live_EnabledFlag configuration setting.
