StaffEmailMode

Description
The StaffEmailMode configuration setting determines whether:

  • users can send emails to staff members from the Community Portal.
  • email icons are displayed next to staff members on the Contact Us page.

    Note: Email icons are only displayed if emailing is permitted and the staff member has an occupation email address.

Default value
The default value is 0. Users cannot send emails to staff members.

Setting a different value

Three values are available:

Users cannot email staff members. The email icon is hidden.

Users can email staff members through the portal's SMTP server.

Users can email staff members using their system's default email application.

use Portal interface (Send Email using the Configurable Email address [CommunityPortal|Email|FromAddress] with the parent's email as the ReplyTo address).

Please note the reason for using Mode 3 over Mode 1 would be if the School has a SMTP relay rule preventing outside emails coming in to the school (e.g. preventing spam emails)
