Synergetic Cloud Q&A
Q. Do Synergetic Cloud clients still have direct access to the SQL database?
A. Yes, more info at SQL access to the Synergetic Cloud database.
Q. Is there any cost for direct database access for Synergetic Cloud?
A. Yes, we encourage clients to get in touch with their CSMs about their hosted questions, including pricing.
Q. Can I run a local service for a third party vendor in Synergetic Cloud?
A. No, our initial recommendation is for third party services to be self-hosted and connect to the database via an IP-whitelisted direct database connection.
Q. Can I get the ‘sa’ database credentials?
A. No, there is no ‘sa’ user in RDS. In on premise installations, the sa user has access to all databases on the server and can "bypass" many restrictions.
RDS "sa role" is now managed by AWS. This role is used to create the databases, but does not give access to the data itself.
The closest role that we have access to is the DB Owner role. The gives access to the database itself at a high level.
We need to support a model that we can support in the long term.
