SQL access to the Synergetic Cloud database
We are providing direct database connectivity over a whitelisted secure connection. For this secure connection to work, the SQL Server driver that is being used on the client machine must support Strict encryption mode.
Prerequisites
Whitelisting IPs that will need access to the SQL database.
This can be requested from the Professional Services team during onboarding or via a support case as required.
For staff accessing the database remotely, schools must either use a VPN (so that the staff working from home will have the same IP address as the school), or they must whitelist a static IP address for the staff. Static IPs for home networks can be provided by your ISP, at a very low cost.
Providing remote direct database access to a cloud based system requires strict security protocols, and we are unable the open the connection beyond the specified IP addresses.
For new clients
We will need to determine the database objects (tables, views, etc) you want to make available, and create the database roles for this.
For migrating clients
We will use the existing database roles and SQL access as configured in your current on-premise instance.
Access
We will provide users with a server name and access credentials with which they can access the SQL server.
Access is currently not available using SQL Server Management Studio, however other database management tools such as Dbeaver can be used.
Ongoing Support
Should any additional users require direct database access, or you require a change to the database objects available to users, please raise a support case and we will do this for you.
