Create Dictionary window

Use the Create Dictionary window to create a custom dictionary using names and words specific to your organisation.
The custom dictionary can be included in the spell checker so that its spellings are marked as acceptable. See Spelling Options - Language tab.

To open the Create Dictionary window:

  1. Select System > Compile Synergetic Dictionary.
    The Create Dictionary window is displayed.

Include Names from Synergetic Database

Select to include name information in the dictionary.
You can choose to include:

  • Surnames to add surnames, maiden names and previous surnames to the dictionary.
  • Given names to add given, middle, preferred and preferred formal names to the dictionary.

    You can also choose which constituents have their names included. Select:
  • Include Students to include spellings of student names.
  • Include Staff to include spellings of staff names.
  • Include All Community Members to include the spellings of all community members' names (except for companies).

Include Word List / Word List Filename

Select to add a custom word list to the dictionary.

Tip: A custom word list must be a .txt file with one word on each line.

Enter the filepath and filename for the text file.

Dictionary Name

Enter the name of the custom dictionary you are creating.

Dictionary File Name

Enter the filepath for the custom dictionary.

Generate the custom dictionary and save it to the Dictionary File Name filepath.

Close the Create Dictionary window.

Launch Windows Explorer to select a filepath for the:

  • custom word list
  • custom dictionary.
