Method

Most Synergetic Views containing Student Year information include a Field CurrentSemesterOnly Flag.

In Synergetic this flag is directly linked to the logged in Users default FileYear and File Semester.

A Synergetic or SQL User with File Semester preferences 2021 Term 4 will extract student data related to 2021/Term4

Another User with File Semester preferences 2021 Term 4 will extract student data related to 2021/Term3

The following query is executed with the logged in user's default File Year/Semester settings as 2021/4

A SQL User who does not exist as a Synergetic User will always have CurrentsemesterOnlyFlag = 0 as it is not linked to any Year or Semester

Considerations

Service Agents and other non Synergetic SQL users can be used to extract data from Synergetic Views however in order for them to extract the expected data the following steps should be taken.

Create the User as a SQL User and give the relevant Table/View select permission
In Synergetic Create the same User name in System → Group/User Security
This will require a community Record to be created
Set The Users File Term and Year to the current semester

Note : This user will need to have its default preferences changed as part of each rollover.
