Using joins to set up subjects for a year level
You can set up subjects for an entire year level by using joins to create a rotating group of subjects..gif)
In this example we will create a join for PREPA to PREPC. Allocating the Period 4 subjects as shown above instructs Primary Time to allocate the remaining subjects to Periods 5 and 6.

To use joins to set up a subject for a year level:
Open Primary Time.
The Year Group Allocation tab is displayed..gif)
Tip: Select Allocation > Year Group from the main menu, if already using Primary Time.
Select the Year Group drop-down list.

Select the first Year Group in the grade.
Click

A new subject column is inserted..gif)
Note: To create a new specialist subject, see Maintaining specialist subjects.
Double click the Join cell.

Type a unique join code into the cell.

Note: Each year group must use the same join code.
Note: The following window is displayed if the single, double, triple and quadruple time period selections do not match those for other year groups already in the join..gif)
Complete steps 8 and 9 before proceeding to resolve this issue.
Double click the Time Periods cell.

Type the number of periods allocated to the join.

Note: This number must match the number of subjects being allocated.
Type 1 into either the doubles, triples or quads row.

Note: This selection must match the number of time periods. For instance, with three time periods you would type 1 in the triples row.
Double click the Teacher cell.

Select the teacher.

Double click the Subject cell.

Select a subject.

Note: This is the first subject in the triple period and each year group must have a different subject in this field to prevent clashes.
Repeat steps 2 to 13 for all the year groups in the grade.
