Default value entered in Student Results Maintenance for the selected result type.

This is useful where most students receive a given result. For example, if using the SN result type (Satisfactory/Not satisfactory) all students would be initially marked with an S (Satisfactory). The result would be changed to N for any students whose performance was judged as unsatisfactory.

MaskMaxOutOf

When defining assessment areas that apply a mask, you can use the Mark Out of field to set an upper limit to the results that can be entered. This minimises the number of masks that are required, if assessments have a different Mark Out of value.

In the following example, the Mark Book Mark 30 result type:

• Has a mask starting with ,100-0. This allows entries from as high as 100.
• Uses a SynergyMeaning of MaskMaxOutOf to use the Mark Out of field on the Area sub-tab. See Subject Assessment Maintenance - Area tab - Area sub-tab in the Assessments and reports manual.

• Creating assessment areas linked to NCEA standards.

Used to determine how student results are displayed on the Community Portal at your organisation.

You can select whether to show the results in a table, called a rubric, or in a list. A rubric is a guideline for assessing a student's performance where the assessment and achievements are laid out in a table format, rather than a list, as shown in the example below.

You can:

• Leave the field blank to show the results in a list.
• Type AUTOCOMMENT to show only the description or comment about the result matched against the assessment item by the result.
• Type RESULT+AUTOCOMMENT to show the result and a description or comment about that result matched against the assessment item by the result.
• Type RUBRIC to show the results as a rubric.
• Type RUBRIC+COMMENT to show a rubric and variable comment for the entered value. The comment used is the one entered against the assessment area comment bank.
