Overview

The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) is a statutory body of the Queensland Government.

It was established on 1 July 2014, replacing the Queensland Studies Authority (QSA). 

QCAA has introduced:

  • Register New Student file - used to register new students in the QCAA Student Management System
  • LUI Import - a file produced by QCAA containing student LUI's that schools can import into their Synergetic system.

Changes in Synergetic

Synergetic now has support for:

  • Producing the QCAA Register New Student export file
  • Importing Learner Unique Idenifiers (LUI) provided by QCAA in a file into Synergetic.

In implementing these QCAA requirements in Synergetic some associated / supporting changes were made within Synergetic Version 69.  These are

  • Two new fields
    • Learning Pathway field

    • Documents Sighted field
  • Field Removed from the UI
    • International Baccalaureate field

  • SIF - Simple Interface Framework
    • Changed to Interface Settings and expanded

Students > Student Data Import / Export... > QCAA tab

The QSA tab has been re-labelled QCAA

Schools whose Region Code is QLD will see this tab.

Register New Student File

The QCAA Register New File, is a file containing student details for students at a Queensland school that do not have a Learner Unique Identifier. 

Schools use this file to upload new students into the Queensland Student Management System,  this is discussed by QCAA here:

The QCAA Register New Student export file has been incorporated into the QCAA tab. 

The file contents are any Current Students who do not have a Learner Unique Identifier on their record and meet the parameters set by the operator ie Current Students, File Year/Campus/Year Level range, and where their start date is on or before Process Date.

To run the file:

Students > Student Data Import / Export... > QCAA tab

Select the Register New Student File

If blank - all campuses are included.

File Name & Browse

Mandatory

Name and location of exported file. _RNS will be appended to your chosen file name. The file is created in .csv format.

Progress
Shows progress in writing out the file. Does not show progress while calculating file contents and identifying errors.

Who is included in the file:

  • Students without a Learner Unique Identifier that meet these parameters.

Click OK

After the file run either:

  1. There were no errors and the file was produced.
  2. Errors will be encountered and need to be fixed

No Errors

After clicking OK, when the file run identified no errors the following displays:

The file will have been successfully created and stored in the location of your choice:

(Note _RNS has been appended to the filename.)

Errors

If errors are found, the file will not be produced and a Register New Student error screen will display.
