Printing PAYG Summaries

PAYG summaries have been deprecated and are no-longer submitted to the ATO.

PAYG Summaries can still be prepared for employees on request, but they are no-longer official tax documents. Additionally, the PAYG summary process ignores Single Touch Payroll final event indicators. See Preparing PAYG payment summaries.

As mentioned earlier, you are not restricted to printing your PAYG Summaries at this time.

You have the option of being able to go into a prior year and print the PAYG Summaries. You can do this by simply choosing which year you want to print by selecting it in the Payroll Year field. When printing the Summaries, you can also create an electronic version which you can forward to the Australian Taxation Office and save in PDF format for your own records. See Preparing PAYG payment summaries for preparing and printing PAYG Summaries.

Checking terminated employees

If you have any employees that are finishing or have finished their employment for this year, it is a good idea to update their termination information on the Payroll Maintenance - General tab. See the Termination Details area of Payroll Maintenance - General tab.

This ensures that these employees will not be transferred into next year's payroll.

If during the year you have already created a PAYG Summary or sent an electronic version to the Australian Taxation Office, the employees will be excluded from the current run of PAYG Summaries.

You can check whether the following fields have been selected on the General tab of Payroll Maintenance:

  • PAYG Summary Printed.
  • ATO sent copy of PAYG Summary.
  • PAYG Amended.
