You can set up subjects for an entire year level by using joins to create a rotating group of subjects.
In this example we will create a join for PREPA to PREPC. Allocating the Period 4 subjects as shown above instructs Primary Time to allocate the remaining subjects to Periods 5 and 6.
For a related video, see Creating joins on the Year Group Allocation tab in Primary Time, 6A (#5032, 3.31 mins).
To use joins to set up a subject for a year level:
- Open Primary Time.
The Year Group Allocation tab is displayed.
Tip: Select Allocation > Year Group from the main menu, if already using Primary Time. - Select the Year Group drop-down list.
- Select the first Year Group in the grade.
- Click .
A new subject column is inserted.
Note: To create a new specialist subject, see Maintaining specialist subjects. - Double click the Join cell.
- Type a unique join code into the cell.
Note: Each year group must use the same join code.
Note: The following window is displayed if the single, double, triple and quadruple time period selections do not match those for other year groups already in the join.
Complete steps 8 and 9 before proceeding to resolve this issue. - Double click the Time Periods cell.
- Type the number of periods allocated to the join.
Note: This number must match the number of subjects being allocated. - Type 1 into either the doubles, triples or quads row.
Note: This selection must match the number of time periods. For instance, with three time periods you would type 1 in the triples row. - Double click the Teacher cell.
- Select the teacher.
- Double click the Subject cell.
- Select a subject.
Note: This is the first subject in the triple period and each year group must have a different subject in this field to prevent clashes. - Repeat steps 2 to 13 for all the year groups in the grade.
