Staff Kiosk - Staff Leave tab

Managers can use the Staff Leave tab to:

  • process leave application requests
  • view leave application requests:

    - they have the authority to approve or reject
    - in their reporting lines so they can determine which teams are capable of taking on more work. 


Note: Managers are staff members that have other staff members reporting to their job position. Job position reporting is configured using the Reports to Job Position field on the General tab of Job Position Maintenance. See Job Position Maintenance - General tab.

Note: Staff members appointed to the job position selected in the Default Job Position for Leave Approvals field on the Payroll tab of Synergetic Financial Configuration window can also process leave application requests. See Synergetic Financial Configuration - Payroll tab.


 Opening the Staff Leave tab

To open the Staff Leave tab:

  1. Select Human Resources > Staff Kiosk from the SynWeb main menu.
    The Personal tab of the My Details window is displayed.
  2. Click .
    The My Leave tab is displayed.
  3. Click the Staff Leave tab.
    The Staff Leave tab is displayed.

Filters area fields and buttons

Fields

FieldDescription
Staff name

Filter the grid area by a selected staff member.

Tip: You can type into the Search field to filter the list of staff members.

Status

Filter the grid area by leave application request status.

Note: The default is to display pending leave application requests.

Leave typeFilter the grid area by leave type (e.g. Annual Leave).
Date range

Filter the grid area to display leave application requests within a specified date range. 

Note: The default is to display a two year span (one year back, one year forward) from the current date. 

Display applications that I have the authority to approve

Filter the grid area to display leave application requests that you have the authority to approve. For information about the leave approval hierarchy, see /wiki/spaces/SYNMAIN/pages/2294745836.

View applications from my reporting lines

Filter the grid area to display all leave application requests in your reporting lines.

Tip: You can use this option to determine which teams are capable of accepting more work.

Grid area fields and buttons

Fields

FieldDescription
Given nameFirst given name of the staff member.
SurnameSurname of the staff member.
Start dateThe date the leave starts.
End date/Return date

The date the leave ends. The name of this field is:

  • End date when employees return to work on their last day of leave
  • Return date when employees return to work on the first day of work after their leave. 

Note: You can configure whether employees return to work on their last day of leave or the first day of work after leave using the Leave Date of Return is Last Day of Leave field on the Payroll tab of Synergetic Financial Maintenance. See Synergetic Financial Configuration - Payroll tab.

Leave typeType of leave. For example, Annual Leave.
Duration

Duration of leave requested.

Note: Each leave type is measured using a specified unit. For example, sick leave may be measured in days and long service leave may be measured in weeks.

StatusStatus of the leave application request. For example, Pending.
Application dateDate the leave application request was submitted by the staff member.
Actions

Actions used for processing the leave application request. See Processing leave application requests.

Note: You cannot update approved or rejected leave application requests. 

Buttons

View the selected leave application request in the Leave Request window.

Note: Relief notes and attachments can only be viewed by managers with leave approval authority and staff members appointed to the job position selected in the Default Job Position for Leave Approvals field on the Payroll tab of Synergetic Financial Configuration window. See Synergetic Financial Configuration - Payroll tab.
