Ethnic groups are used for roll returns in New Zealand schools. They are used to define the ethnic group or groups with which a student identifies with.
The fields allows a student , or parent or guardian to nominate up to three ethnic groups. The New Zealand Ministry of Education (NZ MOE) encourages schools to allow students to self identify or be identified by their parents or guardians as parents as belonging to more than one ethnic group.
