To open the Email / SMS Configuration window:

  1. Select Module > System > Email / SMS / Fax Configuration Maintenance from the Synergetic main menu.
    The Email / SMS Configuration window is displayed.

Field

Description

Mail Server Name

Name of the mail server used to send emails from your organisation.

Mail Server Port

Port number on the mail server used to send emails from.

Number of Emails before Pause

Number of emails sent before pausing the service.

Pause duration (millisec)

Duration of the pause after a certain number of emails are sent, expressed in milliseconds.

TLS/SSL Support

The level of TLS/SSL support to be applied to this communication method. Select:

  • None for no TLS support
  • Required for TLS support to be required
  • If Available for TLS support where it is available.
    See TLS configuration setting.

Authentication

Select whether to use:

  • no authentication
  • login-based authentication
  • SASL authentication
  • Proxy authentication.

    Note: You must type in Proxy Details for the account to be used with the mail server.

User Name

User name to use as the proxy authentication account with the mail server.
Note: These settings are stored and used for future emails.

Password

Password to use for the proxy authentication account with the mail server.

Confirm Password

Confirm password for the proxy authentication account.

SMS Enabled

SMS can be enabled or disabled. Either:

  • select the value to enable the SMS server
  • clear the value to disable it.

SMS SMTP Server

Name of the mail server used to send emails from. These are later converted to SMS text messages.
For example, this can be your existing mail server which resides inside your organisation's firewall.
The advantage of using a different server is that you can set up different settings for each, such as:

  • Different email filters.
  • Different email disclaimers. The email server usually has a longer, comprehensive disclaimer. The server used for SMS can have a shorter disclaimer.

SMS SMTP Server Port

Port number on the mail server used to send emails from. These are later converted to SMS text messages.
For example, this can be the port used by your existing mail server.

SMS Gateway

URL of the SMS gateway server.

SMS Max.Char Count

Maximum number of characters allowed to be sent.

String of characters used to indicate the end of an SMS message.
Note: To prevent mail servers appending policies or disclaimers to SMS emails, type {END} here, including the curly braces.

Fax area fields

Fax Enabled

Fax service can be enabled or disabled. Either:

  • select the value to enable the fax service
  • clear the value to disable it.

Fax SMTP Server Name

Name of the server used to send faxes from.
For example, this can be your existing mail server which resides inside your organisation's firewall.

Fax SMTP Server Port

Port number on the server used to send faxes from.
For example, this can be the port used by your existing mail server.

Fax Gateway

Gateway name.
