Overview

The Queensland Curriculum and Assessment Authority (QCAA) is a statutory body of the Queensland Government.

It was established on 1 July 2014, replacing the Queensland Studies Authority (QSA). 

QCAA has introduced:

• Register New Student file - used to register new students in the QCAA Student Management System
• LUI Import - a file produced by QCAA containing student LUI's that schools can import into their Synergetic system.

Changes in Synergetic

Synergetic now has support for:

• Producing the QCAA Register New Student export file
• Importing Learner Unique Idenifiers (LUI) provided by QCAA in a file into Synergetic.

In implementing these QCAA requirements in Synergetic some associated / supporting changes were made within Synergetic Version 69.  These are

• Two new fields
  

  • Learning Pathway field

    • New Look Up table
      • Contains International Baccalaureate (IB) value Synergy Meaning
    • International Baccalaureate field deprecated from UI screens, but remains in DB
    • Triggers introduced to synchronise IBFlag value with Learning Pathway when Pathway is IB

  • Documents Sighted field

    • added to the International tab in the relevant maintenance screens.
• LUI Import functionality added
  • Import export.lui.csv file
• In Students > Student Data Import/Export … the QSA tab becomes QCAA
  • Create ‘Register New Student’ file functionality added
• QSA Keys in Configuration FIle Maintenance have been changed or deleted
• Interface Settings functionality has been introduced to support mapping translation values used by QCAA

Two New Fields

Two new fields introduced to support QCAA requirements:

• Learning Pathway
• Documents Sighted

Learning Pathway

The International Baccalaureate checkbox has been removed from tabs throughout Synergetic and replaced with Learning Pathway.  International Baccalaureate field still remains in the database and can be queried, through MS-Query or SQL, etc.

The Learning Pathway is a Look Up Table, configurable by the School.  The QCAA codes shown below must be configured for QCAA reporting to work.  For schools to record International Baccalaureate students, International Baccalaureate must exist with the Synergy Meaning of IB.  This configuration is also able to be completed in SynWeb via System > Interface Settings > QCAA Interface

Learning Pathway is reported to QCAA as Intended Learning Option

Documents Sighted

Added to the International tab in the relevant maintenance screens.  Allows recording that the visa documents have been sighted, for reporting to QCAA.
