Use the General tab to maintain general information about the course such as the description, classification and the department it relates to.

 Opening the General tab

To open the General tab:

  1. Select Module > Students or Assessments > Course Maintenance from the main menu.
    The Set Course Search Criteria window is displayed.
    Tip: You can also access the course functions by clicking  or .
  2. Search for the course. See Searching for courses.
    The General tab of the Course Maintenance window is displayed.

Fields

Field

Description

Description

Name of the course. For example, International English.

Program Code

Can be used to group a collective series of courses.
Note: Values are maintained in the luCourseProgram lookup table. See Maintaining lookup tables in the System maintenance manual.

Active

Indicates whether the course is currently active.
Note: This is a display-only field. You cannot make a course active or not active by clicking this check box. You must use the Set as Active or Set as NOT Active buttons described below.

Linked Course Code

Course that the current course feeds into. For example, the course is a remedial or preparatory course for another difficult or important course. Students studying this preparatory class will continue into the linked class.
The default value is the current course code, which indicates the course does not feed into another course.

Commission Link Course Code

Course that the current course feeds into. Enrolments in the feeder course count towards the current course when calculating agent commissions. The default value is the current course code.

Course Classification

Type of course. For example, diploma or hobby.

Department Code

Academic area of your organisation that the course relates to. For example, Information Technology.

CRICOS Code

Code used for the course, if it is offered in Australia to overseas students.
CRICOS is the acronym for the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students.

Commission Control Code

Agent commission control code that applies to this course. See Course Agent Maintenance - Commission Control tab.

Issue Certificate

Select this field to issue a certificate when the course is completed.

Buttons

Button

Description

Sets an active course to inactive. A course that is inactive is not used by your organisation.
Note: This button is only displayed if the selected course is active.

Sets an inactive course to active. A course that is active can be used by your organisation.
Note: This button is only displayed if the selected course is inactive.

Launch the Agent Commission Schedule Maintenance window. See Using the Agent Commission Schedule Maintenance window.

Launch the Course Maintenance window for the selected course. See Maintaining courses.
