Entering topic comments for student assessment areas

Some assessment areas require the entry of a comment rather than just a result. These are usually indicated by a Comment result type.
You can enter comments for a student's assessment area using the Single window or Class window of Results Maintenance. These are known as topic comments.
In the following example, we are entering topic comments against the Exam assessment area.

To enter a topic comment against a student's assessment area:

  1. Open the Single window of Results Maintenance. See Results Maintenance - Single window.
    Tip: You can also enter Topic Comments for multiple students on the Class window. See Results Maintenance - Class window.
  2. Select the student.

    The student's results are displayed.=
  3. Select the Class window.
  4. If the topic comments are not displayed on the Class window, select Comments View on the Results Entry Filter Criteria window. See Using the Results Maintenance filter.

    The Classes window is redisplayed with the topic comments.
  5. Enter the Topic Comment for the required subject assessment area. You can:
     type the comment into the Topic Comment field next to the subject assessment area (Result)

    Tip: You can use the question mark character (?) instead of typing out the student's name; SynWeb automatically inserts the preferred name.

     click to select a comment from the comment bank.
    The Comment Bank window is displayed. Locate and select the required comment, then click .
    The Topic Comment field is updated with the selection from the Comment Bank window.
  6. Repeat the previous step for each topic comment.
    Tip: You can enter the Overall Comment using the same technique. See Entering overall comments.
  7. Click .
    The following window is displayed if the spell check has been set to check automatically. See AutoSpellCheck configuration setting in the Synergetic System maintenance manual.
  8. Correct any spelling mistakes. See Checking the spelling of comments.
  9. Click when the spell check is completed.
    The Single window of Results Maintenance is redisplayed.
