Kiosk mode
Disabling keyboard suggestions
It is recommended to modify the iPad keyboard settings to prevent text recommendations, autofill, and secondary keyboards so students can efficiently populate details into the kiosk.
Audio volume
Before enabling guided access, adjust the device’s volume to a level that is clearly audible, but not excessively disturbing. This will depend on the general ambient noise level of the area, as well as other factors that may require a quieter or louder setting.
If doing this for the first time, start with around 50% volume, then adjust later as necessary if this to much, or insufficient.
The kiosk is designed to emit sounds to affirm key actions, and alert users when their attention is required. This is part of the approaches implemented to provide a more accessible user experience. It can also help raise awareness of nearby stuff if a user is experiencing repeated failures.
Enabling guided access mode
Guided Access mode is used to limit the use of the iPad to the kiosk app and prevents users from accessing applications and features outside the kiosk app.
Configuring guided access mode
Exit guided access mode
To leave the kiosk app, you must exit guided access mode.
