You can link any number of mark book assessment areas to a subject assessment area.
If required, you can define a different weighting for each mark book assessment. Synergetic automatically:

  • uses the mark given to the student for each mark book assessment
  • together with its weighting, to calculate the mark that is assigned to the subject assessment.

Subject assessment results can be displayed on a student report but mark book results cannot.
In the following example, there are three mark book assessment areas (Assignments 1, 2 and 3) being linked to the Assignments assessment area (which appear on the students reports).
To create and link your mark book assessment areas to the existing subject assessment area:

  1. Open the Mark Book sub-tab of the Area tab of the Student Results Maintenance window. See Student Results Maintenance - Mark Book tab (on page ).
  2. Click .

The Staff Mark Book window is displayed.

  1. Click to create a new mark book assessment.
  2. Complete the Mark Book fields. See Maintaining mark book assessment areas from Student Results Maintenance (on page ).
  3. In the Weighting Factor field, type the weighting factor for the mark book.

Tip: Ensure that the relative weighting between them is consistent. In the following example, the weighting factors of 0.25, 0.25 and 0.5 add up to 1.

  1. In the Transfer to Assessment Area Seq field, select the sequence number of the subject assessment that this mark book assessment is linked to.

  1. Repeat steps 3 through 6 to link more mark book assessment areas if required.

  1. Enter the mark book results for the students and recalculate. See Example of linked mark book assessment areas (on page ).
