Mapping multiple lookup table records to one external system code

Lookup table records typically have a one-to-one relationship with external system codes. That is, each lookup table record maps to one external system code. However, sometimes multiple records map to one external system code.  In the following example from the ACARA language code list, multiple English dialects map to one external system code (1201 - English).

This means you can create luLanguage lookup table records for all the dialects in Synergetic, but you cannot map these lookup table records to unique external system values using the Interface Settings window. Instead, each lookup table record must be mapped to the value (1201 - English) assigned by the external system provider.

In this topic, we will show you how to complete this process using the luLanguage lookup table and the ACARA external system.

To map multiple lookup table records to a single external system code:

  1. Click System > Interface Settings.
The Interface Settings window is displayed.
  2. Select the external system from the drop-down list.

The Interface Settings window is displayed.
  3. Click  to expand all items in the settings tree, if they are not already expanded.
  4. Select Outbound to map outbound Synergetic lookup table values to external system values.
  5. Select the lookup table. In this example, luLanguage.
    The mapping table is displayed.
  6. Locate the lookup record to be mapped. For example, American.
  7. Click  next to the first value to be mapped.
The Mapping drop-down list is displayed.
  8. Click the Mapping drop-down list.
  9. Type the code assigned to the record by the external system provider into the Search field. In this example, 1201.
The Mapping drop-down list filters the values to display the required value.
  10. Select the external system value.
  11. Repeat steps 7 to 10 to map multiple lookup table records to the same external system code.
