Importing email addresses from a text file
You can import email addresses into the Email List Import window from a text file that has been created manually or generated by a third party program. The text file must contain the following fields separated by a delimiter character:
- Synergetic ID
- email address
- surname
- first name
- date the person unsubscribed in format 'DD/MM/YYYY'
- date the email address bounced in format 'DD/MM/YYYY'.
Note: Any field you leave blank must include the delimiter character. For example: 13017,,Aden,Abbot,'10/10/20120'.\

To import a list of email addresses:
- Click .
The Load Merge File window is displayed. - Click
The Email List window is displayed. . - Locate the text file to be imported.
- Select the text file to be imported.
- Click
The Name of Import File field is populated with the file name. . - Type a different character into the Delimiter Character field, if necessary. You can type:
• • , for text files that use commas as delimiter characters
• T for text files that use tabs as delimiter characters. - Select the File Contains Header Record field if the text file includes a header record.
- Select the type of communication in the Communications Type field.
Note: You must select an option in the Communications Type field to instruct Synergetic which communication type. - Click
The Email List Import window is populated with the imported email addresses. .
Excluding an email address from future notifications
You should exclude email addresses from future notifications when:

- Import a list of email addresses from a text file with either:
• unsubscribed date
• bounced date.
See Importing email addresses from a text file, above.
Note: Email addresses that have been flagged as invalid are displayed in red font. - Deselect the records you do not want to process.
- Click .
The deselected records are deleted. - Click .
The remaining email addresses are excluded from future notifications and the Notify Method field is updated on the following tabs:
- Notify Methods tab of Community Maintenance. See Community Maintenance - Notify Methods tab.
- Main Notification Method sub-tab of the Current Recipients tab of Communications Maintenance. See Communications Maintenance - Current Recipients tab - Main Notification Method sub-tab
